Jayna has been a speech-language pathologist since 1998 and has worked in private practice part-time since 2003, serving mostly pediatric clients (age 17 months +) with a wide variety of speech and language impairments. In addition to private practice, Jayna has worked in Jordan School District as well as in charter schools. Jayna currently works at Providence Hall Charter Schools, where she has been head of the Speech-Language Pathology Department since 2015.
Jayna is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and was spotlighted in the April 2013 issue of the ASHA Leader national speech-language magazine. Jayna was featured on the front page of the Deseret News (here) in a cover story on Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and again in August 2022 for an article (here) about the Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for children who stutter. Jayna has also been trained as an orofacial myofunctional therapist and is in the process of obtaining certification as a T.O.M. (Trained Orofacial Myologist). The course included training on the remediation of tongue thrust patterns and elimination of noxious oral habits such as thumb sucking which contribute to malocclusion (dental misalignment) and interfere with speech sound production.
Jayna offers a "Rapid Remediation program" to provide intensive articulation treatment for students with isolated sound errors. Quick Fix candidates have been shown to make excellent progress in just days. Most of Jayna's Rapid Remediation ("Quick Fix") students have achieved over 80% accuracy within 3 weeks!
Jayna loves being a speech-language pathologist and finds private practice particularly rewarding because of the accelerated progress her students make. She lives with her husband and children in Herriman, Utah.
